A. If you type in "Compare taxation between US and Nigeria," you'll find 7,940,000 articles on the subject on Google. Nigeria sounds a great deal like the US, but you'll have to do the exact search and decide for yourself. I have to leave the house right now. Good luck!

Q. What are the two basic principles of taxation in the US? Explain each.

A. There none. The U.S. has seen all sorts of taxation: - poll taxes (per head) of both the voting kind and the more general kind - graduated income taxes - sales taxes of various sorts, including tariffs and value added taxes - wealth taxes such as real estate taxes There are taxes that target or favor particular groups or economic activities, such as the fuel taxes which farmers don't have to pay, the deductible on mortgage interest to encourage people to buy homes (a factor in the housing bubble :-), sin taxes to discourage people from buying tobacco or alcohol, etc. Some of these taxes are heavily progressive: graduated income tax, luxury tax, etc. Others are heavily regressive: flat tax, sales tax, etc. There are… [cont.]

We enjoy some of the lowest gas prices among all the industrialized nations and in comparison, we also have, comparatively speaking, a lower income tax. Allow me to propose the following question to you: Everyone wants more roads, more education, more police, more fireman, more social programs and safer everything, but where does all that money come from?

A. . If you mean something "bartering" instead of actual cash payment, the cash-value of the bartered work/services IS taxable. That doesn't mean that it actually IS taxed, because it would have to be reported on a tax form. Let's say you're a carpenter and you need some engine work done on your van. You talk to a mechanic and you both agree that each of you will pay for the parts/materials needed for your work, then you agree on a 1-for-1 swap in terms of time. The mechanic needs 6 hours, plus the parts that YOU paid for to fix your engine; and YOU will spend 6 hours, using the materials that HE bought, to do some work at his house. Other than materials, which each of you can deduct as business expenses, there was no money exchanged. The… [cont.]

A. The only reason we must pay tax, is because the government was convinced by bankers in 1913 to create its money by using a debt-based monetary system, managed by the Federal Reserve Bank. In fact the IRS was created about the same time the Federal Reserve Act was passed, in Congress in the middle of the night around Christmas eve. The interest on the money created through public debt must be paid by tax revenues coming from the citizens pockets to pay the bankers and the buyers of government bonds and bills. If the government would use its constitutional right and mandate to create money by fiat, through a credit-based system, it would create all the money it needs to operate, and provide very low interest credit to all citizens and… [cont.]

A. Puerto Ricans get full US citizenship, but don't pay US income taxes. Import taxes are typically about 3% and all the tax money collected in Puerto Rico stays in Puerto Rico, plus they get generous subsidies from the US. Though they have been offered statehood or independence, every time it has come up for a vote, Puerto Ricans have elected to keep the present status. Can France say the same about Martinique?

Should the United States abolish the income tax? Where does your state stand?
Q. Boston a dueling barrage of bumper stickers, yard signs and phone calls is raining down on the people of Massachusetts, giving the pros and cons of a ballot measure that would do away with the state's income tax. See the story at: Should we change our taxation system from one based on income to one that is based on consumption? I would rather have it based on consumption because I feel you should only be taxed on what you purchase. Not your income. Several states have no income taxes (TN), but they have high sales taxes. It works for them, so why couldn't it work for the USA in general?

A. Income tax, sales tax, property tax...what does it matter? The government is going to get the money they need no matter how they take if from me. Personally I think they should pick one. Tax my income or tax my purchases...but don't tax both. But ultimately, if you take away income tax they will just raise the sales tax...sure you make more money, but everything costs more so really its a wash.

ARGUE WITH ME HERE! Please please please! I need to think of the other side of this debate!?
Q. my side--- Since state taxation is the main factor behind the in-state and out of state tuition rates, the United States Government should take the percentage of taxes that go to fund each of these public state colleges/universities and distribute the taxes evenly between all of them and charge one flat tuition rate. This way prospective college students are not limited to just attending the schools within the state they live in. --- I need to know the other (or main) argument for this debate! please help! Q. 1.The greatest advantage which early canals offered was a direct link between western areas and the eastern seaboard. a route by which ocean-going vessels could sail into the back country. their ideal suitability for the western states. the low cost of their construction. their use of cheap, efficient steam engines as their means of power. 2. Taxation ONLY with Representation, a citizen's right?Nope, not always.?
Q. A large group of citizens of our country (in the thousands) were not allowed to elect senators, congressmen or the president for many years. However, all through those years they had to pay taxes in full. Eventually, they took this injustice to court, claiming that the raison d'etre of our revolution, which resulted in the birth of our nation, was the precept Taxation only w/Representation. The court ruled that this only applied to PREconstitutional times and therefore was invalid and unconstitutional. Bizarre, what? I guess life in these United States is always going to surprise you! (BTW,not one of these thousands of unrepresented but taxed citizens of the U.S. was a felon deprived of his rights as a punitive measure)

A. Good grief gabriella!! It must be very frustrating. You have brought up an interesting paradox and so far nobody has understood what you have said!! A large group of law abiding citizens (NOT felons, you dopes) had to pay taxes but did not have the right to elect any political representative . The court ruled that Taxation ONLY with Representation (a precept that our country was founded on) was anticonstitutional!! Doesn't anyone else see the supreme irony of this? Where and when did this happen? It is fascinating!
