What are the rules about returning an engagement ring?
Q. I've heard three different rules, are these accurate? If not, what are the guidelines about the rules of the engagement ring? Rule 1: If the giver (usually the would-be groom) calls off the wedding the Receiver (usually the would-be bride) keeps the ring. Rule 2: If the Receiver calls off the wedding the ring is returned to the giver. Rule 3: If the relationship ends on mutual terms the ring is sold and the money is split evenly.

A. Ms. Manners would tell you the first two rules are accurate. I have never heard the third rule put that way. My understanding is that if the relationship ends mutually, the person whom bore the financial responsibility keeps the ring (ie. if the ring was purchased with mutual monies I could see a sell and split situation).

What rules and responsibilities will you enforce as a parent and why?
Q. what will be the consequences if your child does not follow the rules? How does your positive or negative attitude and behavior affect your family, friends, and classmates? How can you be a succesful student? sorry it is long...just a survey haha!

A. I think this is really 3 separate long questions. :-) what will be the consequences if your child does not follow the rules? Usually punishment. It really depends on the child when what rule was broken. I know it isn't a big help. You really need to figure out what works for each individual child...it is not easy either. Because a punishment for one is a reward for another. How can you be a successful student? Encourage hard work. Praise them for working hard. When they do a good job, say something like "it looks like all of your hard work paid off". Even an average student can do very well if they are used to working really hard.

How do I find out the rules for students on the school bus?
Q. Besides asking my bus driver, is there a site that will tell me the rules that students must follow on the school bus? Specifically in Indiana, if they make rules by state.

A. 1. Each pupil shall be seated immediately upon entering the bus. Pupils are not to stand or move from place to place while the bus is in motion. 2. Windows and doors are to be opened or closed only with the permission of the bus driver. If allowed, windows should only be opened to the indicated safety line. 3.
